How to Post a Tuition Requirement: A Simple Parent Guide
What to write in a tuition requirement, what to leave out for privacy, and how to judge the replies you get. Free and simple.
Posting a tuition requirement takes a few minutes. It costs nothing.
This guide shows what to write, what to leave out, and how to judge the replies you get.
What is a tuition requirement?
It is a short post that tells teachers what your child needs. The class, the subjects, the board, your area, the timings, and the budget you have in mind.
Tutors read it and decide if they can help.
Why writing it once is easier
Many parents call five or six tutors and explain the same thing again and again.
Writing it once saves that work. The teachers who read your post already know the class, the board and your area before they reply.
It also filters. A tutor who does not teach that class, or cannot reach your area, will not waste your time.
What to write
Write it the way you would explain it to a friend who is a teacher. Be specific.
- Class or standard, as the school calls it.
- Subject or subjects. Name them separately if the needs differ.
- Board: CBSE, ICSE or UP Board.
- The exact problem, for example weak in algebra word problems.
- Home tuition or online classes, or say either is fine.
- Your area, so tutors can judge travel time.
- Days and rough timings that fit school.
- A budget range, if you have one.
A simple example
Weak version: School student, Maths, needs help, evening.
Clear version: Class 9, CBSE. Maths twice a week and Science once a week. Weak in algebra and geometry word problems. Home tuition in Civil Lines. 5:30 to 7:00 pm on weekdays. 4000 to 6000 per month.
The clear version answers the questions a tutor would ask in the first two minutes.
What to leave out
Your post is public. Treat it like a notice on the school board.
- Your child's full name, photo or date of birth.
- Your exact house number. A locality or landmark is enough.
- Long phone numbers written inside the description text.
- Medical or family details that are not needed for teaching.
What happens after you post
Your post goes live on the open board. It stays for the time you choose.
Teachers read it. Replies come to you. You can also browse tutor profiles yourself at the same time.
How to judge the replies
Ask every tutor the same three questions. How will you teach this topic? How will you check that my child understood it? What happens if my child falls behind?
A good answer is specific. Words like will explain well are not enough. A plan with weekly practice and a short test is better.
Posting or browsing first?
Post a requirement when your need is specific, or when nothing in the directory fits.
Browse the directory when you want to compare a few teachers side by side.
Many families do both. Post the requirement, and shortlist two or three profiles while it is live.
Frequently asked questions
Is posting a tuition requirement free?
Yes. It costs nothing and does not need an account. You set a password only if you want to edit or renew the post later.
Do I need an account to post?
No. The open board is public. A tutor profile is a separate thing, and it is reviewed before it appears in the directory.
Are the posts on the board checked by CityTutor?
No. The board is community posted. Confirm the class, subject, area and fee with the family yourself.
How long does my post stay visible?
For the time you choose when posting. After that it stops accepting replies.
Should I mention a budget?
Yes, it helps. A realistic range removes mismatches early.
A short summary
Say the class and board. Describe the exact problem. Say where you are and when classes can happen. Leave out anything that identifies your child.
